Secure Connections with SSL Certificates

What is SSL?

SSL is short for Secure Sockets Layer, which has probably left you still slightly confused so bear with me. SSL is a protocol (or a set of rules) developed by Netscape (one of the very first internet browsers) to allow for a secure way to transmit documents via the internet.

Regular internet browsing is not conducted over a secure connection, this allows for information to be freely seen and viewed by others with the right knowledge. To get around this problem Netscape came up with an idea to use a cryptographic system utilising two keys to encrypt data; a public key known to everyone and a private or secret key known only to the recipient of the message.

Does my business require one?

If you plan on having (or have) an online website or e-commerce application that accepts confidential user information such as credit card details, names and addresses etc. then you will require an SSL certificate. Two Socks can help you out when it comes to this tricky subject.

Let us take the hassle out your online transactions by purchasing your SSL certificates from a well established reputable vendor.
